Activity: Co-Chair: 2024 AABIP Program at CHEST Conference

Term: 2-years

The selected applicant will serve as course co-chair and work with the chair to organize and moderate the annual AABIP Postgraduate Course at CHEST. The selected individual will assume the position of chair for the program the following  year (i.e. during the second year of the term). This is a voluntary service position.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the program chair to brainstorm and develop compelling topics and session formats that align with the goals of the AABIP.
  • Identify and create a list of potential speakers who are experts in the chosen topics and are relevant to the AABIP community.
  • Develop a clear timeline for the entire speaker invitation process, including deadlines for initial invitations, follow-ups and final confirmations.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with CHEST staff to discuss and coordinate session structure, logistics and any other requirements.
  • Ensure that all necessary information and documentation requested by CHEST organizers are submitted promptly and accurately within the specified deadlines.
  • Review presentation materials and content provided by speakers in advance to ensure alignment with session objectives and high-quality educational content.
  • Act as a moderator during the AABIP sessions at the CHEST annual meeting.
  • Participate in post-event debriefings and evaluations to gather feedback for future improvements in AABIP sessions.
Criteria for Selection
  • Minimum 5 years post IP fellowship training or IP Practice
  • Has not previously served as Program (or AABIP PG Course) chair or co-chair
  • AABIP member in good standing
